Ricky Willison Biography

Ricky Willison first joined Ealing Golf Club as a Junior Member back in 1976.

He went on to forge a hugely successful amateur career before turning professional in 1991.

He has been pivotal in putting Ealing Golf Club on the map as a Club that produces good players and was the backbone of the team that won four English club championships and two European club championships in the late 80s.

Ricky has played in three Open Championships winning the Bronze Medal as an amateur at Muirfield in 1987.

He represented England in over 38 matches, losing just five times and went on to represent Great Britain & Ireland in the Eisenhower Trophy and St Andrews Trophy teams in 1990.

The pinnacle of his amateur career came in 1991 when he became English Amateur Champion and represented GB&I against the USA in the Walker Cup matches at Portmarnock.

Other members of that team included Padraig Harrington and Paul McGinley against an American side which included Phil Mickelson and David Duval.

After playing for seven years on the European Tour, where he achieved several top ten finishes, Ricky has now settled in to the challenging and exciting role of Club Professional.

He has been fortunate to play not only some of the best courses but also with some of the world's top players, learning all aspects of the game of golf from them. This invaluable experience and knowledge is passed on in his tuition programmes.

He is convinced that personal coaching in all aspects of the game can provide instant results and Ricky has worked closely with various Middlesex County teams since 2002.

Ricky now combines his teaching career at Ealing with an exciting new personal challenge.

In 2010, he qualified for the European Seniors Tour and achieved two top tens in his 5 events- a great achievement after many years absence from premier-level professional golf.
